Kamadgiri is the main holy place of Chitrakoot. It is located at a distance of 2 km from Chitrakoot. The Sanskrit word 'Kamadgiri' means the mountain which fulfils all the desires. The name Kamadgiri comes from the name Kamadnathji, which is another name for Lord Rama. On the route of the Parikrama, which is around 5 kilometres long, there are several temples, among the most well-known of which is the Bharat Milap temple.

Gupt Godavari

Gupt Godavari is situated at the foot of a hill about 18 km away from the Chitrakoot. It is an incessant stream flowing between two rocks which is known by the appellation of Gupta-Godawari. Beautiful and natural carvings in varied designs enhance the attraction of the caves many times. Several local legends are associated with this place. As per legend, River Godavari flowed from Nasik to this place simply to have a glimpse of Rama. The Gupt or the hidden Godavari emerges from the cave, flows into a pond, and vanishes underground
